What you'll do

Lake Tawakoni is a 37,879-acre reservoir located in East Texas, roughly an hour east of Dallas, and is widely regarded as one of the premier freshwater fishing lakes in the state. Managed by the Sabine River Authority of Texas, the lake is best known for its outstanding fisheries and wide-open water, making it a top destination for both local and visiting anglers.

The reservoir features a diverse mix of standing timber, creek channels, submerged structure, points, flats, and vegetation, creating ideal habitat for largemouth bass and other freshwater species. Because of the lake’s size, structure, and seasonal patterns, local knowledge is essential for safe navigation and for consistently locating quality fish throughout the year.

Your fishing trip is guided by a professionally licensed captain operating a 21-foot bass boat built for comfort, safety, and performance. All necessary fishing equipment is provided, including rods and reels (left- and right-handed) and a full assortment of artificial lures that you are free to use throughout the trip. The boat is fully equipped with required safety gear and prepared for any situation on the water.

Each trip includes fishing instruction and casting lessons for beginners, along with advanced techniques for experienced anglers looking to sharpen their skills or target trophy fish. Trips typically run 4 hours, with morning and afternoon start times available, and scheduling can be flexible depending on availability. As an inland freshwater lake, Lake Tawakoni offers calm conditions with no concerns about seasickness, and restroom facilities are available at marinas and public access areas around the lake.

While fishing, you’ll have access to an onboard cooler with ice and bottled water to keep you refreshed. There’s plenty of space to bring snacks, lunch, and your favorite beverages. Alcohol is permitted, with cans preferred.
